AppLocale is a launcher application that makes it possible to run non-Unicode programs on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 using an installed locale emulator. It allows you to type with an Arabic or Hebrew alphabet or to use languages such as Chinese and Japanese in applications that do not support these languages and work together with existing locales. It supports entering non-Unicode languages in Office XP and Windows XP. This way, users can create documents in their language of choice without having to switch keyboard layouts. In addition, users can run other programs such as Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer in different languages without changing the system’s default language.

AppLocale also includes a small database of locales in which the user can set the system locale to activate an input method for that locale and use it with AppLocale-launched applications. It allows running non-Unicode applications in localized Windows versions. This is useful if you have software that is not compatible with the language version of your operating system. It allows you to run such applications without having to use the command prompt or having to change the default language of your operating system.
